Almost 50 years ago, college began, but life took a different path—raising a family, working as a paralegal and in other administrative positions; I gathered valuable life experiences. Throughout the years, I took classes whenever possible. My children have been always taught, “Get your education—no one can take that knowledge from you.” Now, as a widow with grown children, grandchildren, and a great-grand, the time finally came to complete what was started decades ago. Plus, being 65 means I can attend tuition-free—what better time than now?
 
With a daughter and grandson also enrolled at PGCC, graduating with my daughter this spring makes this achievement even more special. Living close to the Laurel campus, instead of isolating at home with online classes, I sought connection. Being in the classroom has already brought joy and camaraderie, enriching my life in ways I did not expect.
 
Classroom learning has changed, and while the digital age can be challenging, that hurdle is being overcome with the help of my instructor and fellow classmates. It is both exciting and a little terrifying, yet deeply meaningful, to be doing something about this chapter of my life. If completing your journey has been a dream, the time can be now too, no matter what the age!
