Open Computer Lab Hours

Laurel College Center Open Computer Lab (room 404) hours are:

  • Mon -Thursday 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM
  • Friday  8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (until 9:00 p.m. when Friday evening classes are held)
  • Saturday 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Sunday CLOSED

Admissions

Students planning to enroll at the Laurel College Center must first submit an application for admission. Proof of residency is required upon request. Admissions applications for Prince George's Community College (PGCC) or Howard Community College (HCC) may be obtained at and submitted to the Laurel College Center main administrative office (Room 205). Applications can also be downloaded and mailed to the appropriate admissions office.

Academic Advising

Students should meet with an advisor prior to the start of each term. Advisors provide students information and recommendations regarding learning programs, course selection, prerequisites, and transfer preparation. A full-range of services, such as transcript evaluation, graduation audit, and selective admissions (allied health and international student programs) may require consultation with staff at the home campus. Students can also contact PGCC and HCC staff about course information and advising questions through e-mail:

Academic advisors are available to meet with students at the Laurel College Center during times:

PGCC Advisors: Mondays and Wednesday, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 4 - 7 p.m.
HCC Advisors: Thursdays, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 4 - 7 p.m.

Disabled Students

Students with a documented disability who need special accommodation should identify themselves to the Laurel College Center site administrator or their home campus disability support service office. The LCC site supervisor can help coordinate the need for a disability accommodation with the home campus. Students must provide acceptable documentation, register, and submit a paid bill receipt one month or more before the start of classes to the home campus disability support service office. Identification Cards

Prince George's Community College students can obtain an Identification Card in LCC Room #205 when they bring in a current paid semester bill and a photo ID.

The following hours are available during the Fall 2009 Semester:

Monday - Friday -- 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Monday - Thursday -- 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Prince George's Community College students can also update their new ID each semester in the main office with a paid, current semster bill.

Howard Cummunity College students should obtain an Identification Card or renew their current ID at their home campus.

Students may register in person for credit or non-credit courses at the Laurel College Center.

NonCredit Registration and Payment

The noncredit course cost (including tuition and fees) is listed with each course description in the schedule of classes.   If you live in Howard County, you should register through HCC.  If you live in Prince George’s County, another county (other than Howard), District of Columbia, or another state, you should register through PGCC.  ALL students can register and pay for classes at the Laurel College Center.

If you register through HCC, payment is due at the time of registration (a registration fee of $30 is included in the cost of each noncredit course).

If you register through PGCC, payment is due at time of registration, a registration fee of $7 each semester will be added to your bill (regardless of the number of courses you are taking). Also, non-PG residents are charged an additional fee when they register through PGCC (other MD county: $5 per course; DC/Out-of-state: $10 per course).

Tuition is waived for seniors and the disabled; however, students are responsible for registration and other fees. Call 410-772-4825 (HCC registrants) or 301-322-0998 (PGCC registrants) for additional information.

Noncredit Refund Policy. In the event you need to withdraw from a course, check with the college where you registered to determine their specific refund policy and procedures.

Due to the complexity of determining eligibility for financial aid, students are advised to work through their home campus. However, financial aid applications are available at the Laurel College Center, along with general information on processing procedures and deadlines. Placement Testing (Appointment Only)

A placement test is usually required to determine each student's math, reading, and writing proficiency level as a part of the course selection and registration process. You can schedule a placement test appointment at the Laurel College Center by calling 410-772-4162 or 1-866-228-6110 (toll free).

Textbooks

The Laurel College Center does not have an on-site bookstore.  Students can purchase their textbooks at their home college’s bookstore.  NOTE:  At the student’s request, online and phone orders can be sent to the Laurel College Center for easy pick-up.

Tutoring

Security staff are present at the LCC and routinely patrol the site. Students who need assistance should contact the main administrative offices (Room 205).
